College Credit Opportunities
Dual Credit programs – wherein students may earn college credit while attending high school courses – have become commonplace throughout the nation. Phoenix High School offers more college credits than most schools.
How did this come about? What happens is this: Colleges look at our course’s curriculum and learning objectives, consider samples of student work, and look at our instructors’ professional resume. They then ponder two questions: (1) Would this instructor be a candidate to teach on-site at our institution?, and (2) does what the student learns meet or exceed what students on-site at the university would? If the answer is affirmative to both questions, the university is willing to offer their academic credit for our students. The credit is at a reduced tuition rate, and appears on a university academic transcript.
In the 2018-2019 school year. Students at Phoenix High School may potentially earn up to 125 academic credits from Southern Oregon University, 91 from Rogue Community College and 25 from Klamath Community College. These aforementioned credits are in addition to the benefits of the seven Advanced Placement courses we offer regularly.
